OK, so I felt the need to write a review of salon 42 in medina. I've never written a review before, but I just had to spread the word about my experience. I went into the salon today (Wednesday, Feb 10th 2016) which is the day of the week advertised to be men's haircuts for $15. When I arrived the place and staff were fine in appearance/smell, but a little confused as to who would be my stylist. There were only 2 stylists there, and was working on another customers' roots. That left me with Lisa, who was nice, but she can NOT CUT MEN'S HAIR! I showed her a photo of the style I wanted and that my hair was all ready close to the style and it would have just been redoing what was all ready established. I said do not cut the top of my hair, and the first thing she did after half-assedly using clippers was grab scissors and proceed to take off around 3/4" from the top of my hair! I was getting pretty livid about it, then she proceed to cut my hair into a style similar to a shorter version of Moe from the 3 stooges! It was at this point that I finally said that is had enough, when the other stylist came over to attempt to salvage my hair style. She does her best, but the damage was done. And my hair looks completely horrid! They didn't charge me, but I wouldn't have paid if they wanted me to. The point is, in the days you offer men's haircut as a sale, have someone who can actually cut men's hair! I can deal with someone not having the experience, but they should have told me that I was going to be Lisa's guinea pig, and that is not acceptable. I would NOT recommend going here, especially if you ate a man. I wanted to give them a chance-they blew it.
I have NEVER written a review, but I felt that I needed to start with a good one :) I had an AMAZING experience when I went with my mom for manicures and pedicures. they only had us down for pedicures, but when I explained I thought they had us down for both they did not hesitate to accommodate us. Both girls were very nice, professional, and their nails looked fine to me lol. They used clean utensils and even offered to give us our nail files at the end. Becky did my nails and was very thorough and took her time to make sure my nails looked awesome. I definitely feel like I under tipped and when I go back will make sure to make up for it :) My moms lady may also do hair, but is there anything wrong with that?? My mom was happy with her nails and after talking to her may switch to her as her hair stylist. Thumbs up to this Salon!
They use Aveda products so love it!
This place is really unprofessional. Their website stated that with hair services you receieve a scalp or hand massage......I didn't get one. While my stylist was nice, the other staff was really sloppy, loud, slow etc. When I walked in for the first time I sat and waited for 5 min before anyone acknowledged me and there was only 1 other customer in the place! I made a second appointment because I liked the stylist I had, when they called to confirm my appointment the receptionist left a voicemail. It was about 1.5min. It wasn't a reminder, it was for me to call her and discuss my appointment?..... It was like a 12 year old who was nervous rambling because she had never left a message before. I cancelled my appointment because I was so turned off. I don't want to have to call to discuss my appointment, just leave me a reminder with the day and time! I'm not overly judgemental but for the prices this place is so not worth it.
